The Romanian Language

The Romanian language. The Romanian language - as the word “Romanian” already suggests - is a Romance language, so its grammatical structure and much of its vocabulary is largely based on Latin. If you can understand some written Spanish or Italian, you will be able to understand some written Romanian as well.
But Romanian has absorbed many influences from other language groups as well. The Slavic languages especially have left their imprint on Romanian, but the Turkish, Greek and Hungarian languages have done so, too.
It will come as no surprise to learn that Romanians love it when tourists try their best to communicate with them in their own language.
